Women rule the roost in the family and need to stay hale and hearty. They recuperate faster and complain less. They can handle more pain overall. Coming of age into adulthood happens at about 18 although maturity comes earlier. At one time, women married at this age before the job revolution and the feminist movement.

The 18th birthday not only baptizes a girl to womanhood physically but to outside influences as well. This age of freedom will mean she can now drink alcohol whenever and wherever she wants. Like all things in moderation, alcohol is good. However, it is important to know that alcohol's effects are faster and stay longer in a woman's body. Because women have smaller bodies, the chemical in the blood will cover the whole body faster. And since alcohol disperses in water, women have less water in their bodies.

Childbearing age can begin at 11 or 12, making young girls more aware of their role in family life. In essence, they mature faster and stay vital for a longer period of time. They also have a great role to play in contraception and prevention of communicable diseases.

Moving to a new home or a new job also greatly affects the health. The body has a comfort zone and once you take it out from there, the immune system is shocked. Not only this, psychologically, she will be shaken as well because she has a lot of adjusting to do.

A new location has different factors that a woman's body is not used to. A new neighborhood maybe has a few more allergens and her new job may be set in a heavily polluted city. A woman is more prone to infecting during travel and thus she needs to take health supplements or improve her lifestyle for a stronger immune system.

Women look forward to pregnancy, but there can be complications. Some get temporary diabetes, nausea, headaches, and aching joints. Exposure to those with flu or colds can compromise health and threaten the baby. At this critical time, good nutrition comes to the fore to ensure a healthy birth. Any deficiencies arising during pregnancy must be addressed. A program of diet and exercise can make all the difference.

A woman must have prepared her body before she gets pregnant. By this time, she must have had a healthy lifestyle. If not, she need to fight diseases by eating more fruits and vegetables and to always go to the doctor for a check up. If ever she gets sick, it is important to ask the doctor first if you can take medication because some medicines are harmful for the child.

A loved one's death has a negative effect on a woman's health most especially her heart. According to research, traumatic life events affect even the healthiest of women. At these times, she needs not only physical supplement in the form of maintaining a healthy lifestyle but emotional and mental support as well.
