No sport can be said to be perfectly safe. Once you are engaged in one, there are chances of knocks, falls, and collisions with fellow teammates or opponents. With this in mind, one must have adequate information about the varieties of sports protective wear for each sport.

Each wear is designed to protect a specific body part. The helmet is an example of these gears which is aimed at preventing or minimizing the effects of head and brain injuries. There are sports such as cycling, motor racing, baseball, boxing and cricketing where a helmet is compulsory. Each helmet is designed to prevent a given amount of force depending on the sport.

In addition to the helmet, there is the mouth guard. This protects basically to protect the components of the mouth including the teeth, tongue, lips gums and jaws from potential injuries. If such occur, there are likelihood of injuries like fractured or broken jaws to happen. The common sports where the mouth guard is necessary to include boxing, rugby, and football.

Pads and guards are another kind of protective gears that are very useful in protective sports mostly rugby and soccer. The pads usually help in minimizing or protecting the neck, chest, elbows and shoulders from injuries mainly from hard impacts. The guards are made from either hard plastic or the soft padding. The variation is due to the sport that one is involved with since different sport will have its degree of injuries that are anticipated.

The kind of guards available are categorized depending on the sport played and the body part to be protected. For the shin which is very exposed in soccer and cricket, there is a shin guard. The knee guard protects the knee joint and the cartilage from the probable dangers. Other kinds include the elbow guard that protects the elbow from injuries, the one for the shoulder and much more.

Protective clothing and wears are unique forms of protection that are often used in on-field sports like soccer and rugby. The clothes worn are usually designed with cushioning on their sides to protect those wearing from injuries especially from falling. The feet are normally protected with well-designed foot wears. The cycling shoes, for example, protect the heels and enables one to cycle faster.

There are sports like skiing, surfing and even cycling that needs one to protect their eyes from external agents or sharp light rays. In such scenario, protective eye wears are needed. In other sports like soccer, unique eye glasses can be designed for players with eye conditions.

Possession of these apparels is not a guarantee that you are protected from any injuries. One has to follow the safety measures stipulated by the sport. In addition to this, each gear must be used to it rightful purpose. More so, the gear should be of ones size. If it is bigger or smaller it may make one more exposed to injuries.
