Important Steps During Chimney Cleaning

Regular inspection of chimney is essential. One is able to know when its condition is deteriorating. One can perform inspection as much as possible but if not possible once per year is mandatory. Maintenance procedures should be done so as to avoid any unhealthy condition. Chimney Cleaning should be done within short intervals so as to enhance efficiency in its operation. If one does not use it regularly cleaning helps in removing dirt brought about by other disturbing animals.

As the smoke moves up it cools and this may cause deposition on the wall hence forming creosote which is very flammable. This means it becomes very dangerous to the house because it may lead to the burning of the entire house. Hence scrubbing helps in eliminating all the risks that may be caused by creosote. Good maintenance also helps to reduce the amount of carbon monoxide released by the ones not well maintained. The gas is very poisonous and can easily cause death. It occurs as a result of incomplete burning of carbon due to poor ventilation as a result of accumulation of the dust. Also the ones not cleaned regularly, may cause the smoke to accumulate in the house hence causing suffocation.

Too much smoke from a dirty one, may cause its cap to corrode and finally may wear out, a condition that may lead to unwanted substances such as rain entering the house. This may cause too much inconveniences. This can only be avoided through regular cleaning and other types of upgrading activities that may improve its performance.

Ensure that the fire place has stayed for about twenty four hours unused before commencing cleaning process. It is good to be in old clothes due to the dirt of the environment. It is essential to be in globes because some of materials to deal with are toxic. Cover the carpet and furniture with a plastic so as to avoid contaminating them. Then put the ash into an appropriate bucket.

With the help of a torch inspect the upper part of the chimney to check for the deposition. When there is the presence of too much soot and other black residues is a clear indication that cleaning is needed. The creosote is confirmed by the presence of a hard dark substance. This shows the need for immediate cleaning as it is very dangerous. Metal brush is used to make it more efficient. This helps in the removal of hard creosote.

Trisodium phosphate and chlorine mixture is used when cleaning with the help of a wire brush. During the formation of mixture, it is very important that hot water is used. Start cleaning from the top of chimney downwards. A towel is used in rinsing the walls of the chimney

When making a choice of a chimney sweep it is very essential to ensure that is certified and has plenty of experience. Consider matters such as how long does the company been into the business, when they had any complaint filed against them by their prior clients, or whether the sweep will be done on the job site. Also look at the duration the company will take doing the job.
