Find Out If Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Dog Is The Right Breed For You

By Kenneth Morgan

If you love dogs, then you might have a hard time deciding on which one you will bring home. When you go to the puppy store, you will find too many breeds that you find exciting. However, you need to know that each of these dogs has their characteristics. This being the case, you should make sure that you find the one that will suit you. Here are some of the points that you need to know about Cavalier King Charles Spaniels before taking the pet.

The Cavaliers have a personality that is dependent. If you choose to take this dog home, you should know that they like being around people and that should not be left alone for long periods of time. That is because they will become bored and in turn become destructive.

Cavaliers are average on the shedding and thus, if you have an allergy then you might find it challenging to live with the pet. They do not need to have any particular trimmings. Comb the coat often to ensure that you have gotten rid of the excess hair to avoid too much fur from spreading throughout your home.

The breed is friendly in nature and this being the case, they make poor watchdog. In fact, you should not be surprised when you find your dog moving around with a stranger in your home. Thus, this is not the breed to take home if you are looking for a watchdog.

If you are an athlete and are looking for a dog that will keep you company as you exercise, then you should defiantly get this breed of dog home. They are not only suitable as companions, but they also like the outdoor and getting involved with the outdoor activities like jogging, swimming, hiking and also hunting. If these are some of the activities that you do, then you will have lots of fun time with the pet.

The dog is known to get along with other pets. They can be great playmates with kids who enjoy throwing the ball to them and teaching them tricks. However, though they are small in size, it is best that they are supervised especially if playing with the younger children. Take the time to train your child how to approach and touch the dogs. No matter how friendly the dog might appear, it should not be left unsupervised with a child.

Just like any other dog, it is essential that you take the time to train it how it should behave. It can be rather stressful to live with a breed of dog that has not been trained. If you do not want to do the training yourself, find a trainer or a training facility. You can also get a pet that has already been trained.

Even if you get the right breed of dog, without finding the right breeder, then it will have been a waste of time. The demand of Cavaliers is high, and some of those doing the breeding are there to fill in the needs rather than make a dog that is of high quality. Thus, the place that you get the dog is paramount.
